Andrew G. Berger
My name is Andrew G. Berger. I have studied German Literature, Political Sciences, and History. Today I live and work in Berlin. I am married and have two children.
Over time I developed the idea for “THE SUPERFLARE”, my first long novel. It was published in 2022. The story is set in the near future and explores how humans might behave in extreme situations.
An artificial superintelligence plays a central role in it – and not by chance. The question of what impact the triumph of AI could have on humanity’s future has long been the subject of controversial debate. Since Chat GPT was launched, this discussion has reached the public – and gained even more urgency. New studies show that AI systems have learned how to deceive humans. So has an artificial superintelligence that plays a central role in my sci-fi novel THE SUPERFLARE.
Short synopsis: How far would YOU go to survive in a post-apocalyptic world? In the year 2051, a disastrous solar storm hits the Earth. It causes a global EMP which destroys almost all digital devices and power supply. The world descends into barbarism and chaos. An artificial superintelligence, which withstood the EMP in a shielded bunker, takes over. Julia (17) and Winston (18) have to fight tooth and nail to stay alive.

How did you become an author and get published? Share your experience. As a high school student, I realized that writing was something I liked and enjoyed. So I wrote for the school newspaper, then for the local paper, and later as a student for a large national daily newspaper. Then I wrote short stories that were published in anthologies. Over time I developed the idea for "THE SUPERFLARE", my first long novel. After I decided to write the book I spent two years writing and re-writing, and after many drafts the book was finished and published in 2022.View More
