In the days of yore, land was the only resource available for man to have a say in the material aspects of life, and as for the land-less, neither ambition nor resentment was of any avail to get even in the universality of inequality. What is worse, as envy and caprice only make it worse, the wise among the have-nots learned to cultivate contentment in their minds to mend their resource-less lives, and even the less resourceful ones, relatively speaking that is. Thus emerged the old adage – contentment is the finest thing in the world – to lend peace of mind to the lacking millions by way of a stoical philosophy. Nonetheless, one’s reconciliation with the deprivations that contentment ...

I never planned on becoming an author. In fact, for the longest time, I thought stories were just something I carried in my head to pass the time. It wasn’t until a friend read one of my scribbled drafts and said, “I feel this could be a book,” that I began to see writing differently. My early days were a mix of excitement and self-doubt. I’d write late into the night, then wake up the next morning convinced everything I had written was terrible. Rejections came quickly, emails with polite lines like “not the right fit.” Each one stung, but I kept going, partly because I didn’t know how to stop. The turning point came when I decided to self-publish. I had no marketing budget, no ...
Image courtesy of me, artwork courtesy of Josh Rottkamp (81s) I think there's a certain art to writing short stories that can make them something of an enigma. I've always struggled with them. I seem to feel like I have much more to put down and flesh out than what just a few pages has to offer. They can be difficult, but at the same time... they can be quite beautiful. Anyone who has read any works by Philip K. Dick, or Ray Bradbury, you know what I'm talking about. Sometimes a story can be told in just a few pages (or in the event of a short film, a few minutes) and being able to get something across in so short of time is pretty cool in and of itself. Below I've inc...

L.M. Lacee is a talented fiction author who stands out from others in the genre for several reasons. One of the most significant reasons that L.M. Lacee stands apart from other fiction authors is the quality and depth of world-building in her work. Lacee's fantasy novels, such as Dragon's Gap, are set in detailed and immersive worlds that are rich in history, culture, and magic. The author takes great care in creating believable and coherent settings that feel like real places, rather than simply a backdrop for the story. This level of detail and realism makes the worlds Lacee creates feel alive and authentic, which in turn makes the story more engaging and immersive for readers.Another reaso...

I just completed book number eight in Magnanotron and as most of my books go, the ratings and reviews are doing very well. This story is actually book three in the Bond of Bothers series, but it has been said it "reads good as a standalone." I have found in the highly competitive writing world the author needs to have a strong online presence. Some things can be done at little or no cost, and it is good to put the time in and make it happen. On the other hand, an author's website, and getting on the popular promotion and review platforms can be expensive. It is like an investment in many ways as you hope to recover those fees in sales, but for me the outflow is right about the sam...
