The Interview - S.C. Farrow
Which character do you enjoy writing the most as a writer and why? If choosing a favorite character is like choosing a favorite child, which character do you find requires the most attention and detail from you as a writer?
In This is Not a Lie, I enjoyed writing the main character the most. The main character always requires the most attention.
Tell us what you enjoy most about writing [genre].
Right now, my passion is for writing trauma fiction and gritty realism fiction. I enjoy elements of psychology, and these genres that allow me to delve deep into the human condition.
As an author, what critique has been the most challenging for you to receive? On the other hand, what compliment has been the most rewarding?
I'm not great with grammar, so whenever anyone makes a point of highlighting grammatical errors, I'm always embarrassed. The most rewarding compliment I ever received was via email. The reader said I had made them laugh and cry and complimented me on creating a powerful story. As a writer, that was very satisfying and I will always be grateful to that reader.
What other hobbies do you have outside of writing?
I love traveling. I'm fortunate to have been to a few overseas destinations; however, I'll be looking to travel more within my own country.
Are any of the characters in your book based on people in your real life? If so, can you tell us more about that process and how it influenced your writing?
I won't say the characters in my book are based on real people, but they were certainly inspired by real people. Their real life challenges helped to inform my characters and give them a sense of authenticity.
