Why did you start writing your first children's book?

I retired after enjoying 45 years of teaching all subjects at all grade levels. My wife said, "You enjoyed reading books with children. Why don't you write them." I began writing in 2013. Since then, I have published on Amazon over 300 illustrated children's ebooks and paperbacks plus some hardcovers. I have published over 200 audiobooks using ACX. For me, writing is as much fun as teaching.

How do you find topics to write about?

To find topics to write about, I visit schools and libraries, do storytelling, and ask children what kind of stories they like.

Which of the children's books you have written is your favorite?

My favorite book is the one that I am currently working on. If I had to choose, I would choose "Murphy's Laws for Kids" because children learn that things go wrong, all you can do is laugh and learn.

As a teacher, what were you most concerned with?

I wrote a book called "Growth Mindsets for Kids." Some children did not have a growth mindset. They would say, "I can't do that." I would say, "If you think you can do it, you will do it. Say to yourself that you haven't learned how to do that yet."

Why do you publish children's audiobooks?

Audiobooks are great for auditory learners as well as practice of listening skills by asking children the 5 W's and 1YO: Who? What happened? Why did it happen? When did it happen? When did it happen? and Your Opinion?

How do you edit?

After writing for a while, I get up and take a break. Then, I come back and edit what I have written so far. I repeat this approach. Also, reading out loud helps me catch my mistakes.
