When you're working on a book and a new idea pops up, should you pursue it immediately (also known as 'UP syndrome') or finish your current project first? What do you think is the best course of action?

If it's an idea I can put into my current book, I do so.  If better for another book, I jot it down for later and continue on with the current novel.

What have you found to be most challenging about writing in [genre]?

Marketing.  The writing is easy.

Have you ever experienced writer’s block? How did you deal with it?

Never had it.  Betyween being really organized and highly creative, it doesn't happen.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Walk around the Arboretum pondering scenes in my head.

Was there anything you had to research for the book?

Research?  No.  Create?  yes.  An entire new world, alien cultures, societies, history, an alphabet and language, the list goes on.

How long did it take you to write this book?

The first Maldene book took me 9 months at 330,000 words.  Book 13 (the last in the series) took me 4 months for 575,000 words.

What other hobbies do you have outside of writing?

yoga, biking, reading, movies
