The Interview - Kitty Arceneaux

When you're working on a book and a new idea pops up, should you pursue it immediately (also known as 'UP syndrome') or finish your current project first? What do you think is the best course of action?
I don't necessarily start working on the new idea, but I do jot down some notes so that I don't lose that thought.
Can you explain your writing process? Do you prefer to create an outline and plan beforehand, or do you prefer to write more spontaneously and organically?
It depends on what I'm writing. Non-Fiction books I usually create an outline, but that doesn't mean I'm going to work it in that order.
Fiction books, I usually just let it flow.
Would you like readers to have any specific takeaway from your book?
I have several books and I usually write with a message inside. My most popular book is Ruth Ready, a book for healthy relationships so the take away would be how to create a space for that.
My 2nd most popular, Dyani's Adventures is a fiction book and the take away would be, although we are different we can learn from one another.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I love listening to music and podcast. I enjoy board games and coloring books.
Did you have any say in the cover design?
I always give input for the design, but I usually let the designer be as creative as she wants.
What are you reading right now?
Right now I'm reading, Leadership for the new female manager.
I've read several books over the past 45 days, but this is tge current one.
What can we anticipate from you moving forward?
I have a new children’s book coming out within the next month.
