Can you explain your writing process? Do you prefer to create an outline and plan beforehand, or do you prefer to write more spontaneously and organically?

I make notes when ideas hit me then I organize my thoughts into the chapters that it fits well with. Then I focus on my writing and put my thoughts into words that are fit for a novel.

Have you been able to incorporate your previous experience in [jobs/education] in your writing?

Yes, I did. I wrote about each chapter of my life and give insight into many things we go through. There are also quotes that are insightful for each chapter.

Describe the [book/series] in 10 words or less for people who are just learning about it.

My autobiography is about my life story. I was orphaned as a baby in Bangladesh and eventually got adopted through an adoption organization and came to Canada. I talk about the emotional trials I went through and the searching of belonging.

It’s not just about my story but about a reflection of the universal human longing to find one’s place in the world, a sentiment shared in countless hearts. By acknowledging this shared longing, we build connections that extend beyond individual experiences, fostering understanding and compassion among people.

Would you like readers to have any specific takeaway from your book?

That we are all connected and can learn to forgive one another despite what trials we faced in life. We can learn empathy, kindness, compassion, resilience and hope through my book.

To date, what is your favorite (or most difficult) chapter you have ever written?

In my autobiography, it was chapter 3 (facing emotional and mental challenges) that was the hardest chapter to write as it was the longest and I had to organize my thoughts and events into chronological order. Plus, I had to face my past and I procrastinated to do that chapter so I wrote it last after I wrote the rest of the chapters in my book.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I like to spend time with my family or friends, cook, watch movies, or go on adventure hikes with my family.

What can we anticipate from you moving forward?

My 3rd and 4th children’s book in the first series I wrote. I plan on writing them in the near future.

Do you have any movie or tv adaptations in the works?

I was told that I should turn my book into a movie like the author of “Lion” did. But I don’t have any connections with the TV industry so no, I don’t have any movie adaptations in the works.

How long did it take you to write this book?

When I finally focused on writing my autobiography, it took 9 months to finish writing it. Then a couple of months to edit it and then I finally published it.

Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what kind of music do you like to listen to?

No, I don’t.  I don’t like getting distracted when I write. I also tend to not eat for hours on end when I’m busy writing.
