The Interview - Wallace Briggs
https://www.wallaceebriggs.comWhich character do you enjoy writing the most as a writer and why? If choosing a favorite character is like choosing a favorite child, which character do you find requires the most attention and detail from you as a writer?
I amy already have expressed my love of my primary protagonist because he embodies so many traits I wish I had and which I wish my youg readers to develope.
Describe the [book/series] in 10 words or less for people who are just learning about it.
Jimmy, the bullied orphaned alien, becomes the hero of Roombelow.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don't listen to music, as many writers do, and I abhor total silence. I much prefer the sound of voices fron the TV as background.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
Painting scenes onto pottery and firing them in my bequeathed kiln takes me into another world where pain and conflict does not exist. I play the organ much less fgrequently these days primarily because my finger pads pain after more than thirty or forty linutes of relaxation. there is a simple resoloution: play more often! But, i care for my disabled wife, write and paint and there is only so much time in a day, even though I am an 81 year old retiree. I thanks my lucky stars that I can rely on sis-in law Denise to look after the food requirements. Life is easier than it would otherwise be.
How long did it take you to write this book?
the writing was reasowith the assistance of my wife and sister in law ly fast: less than three months, but the editing and rewrites took double that time with the assistance of my wife and sister in law as first pass editors followed by a wonderful professional editor.
Are any of the characters in your book based on people in your real life? If so, can you tell us more about that process and how it influenced your writing?
the main protagonist in my sereis of The Adventures of Jimmy Crikey is fictional but he is based on my early experiences of being bullied and being shown how to overcome adversity by a loving father. I believed the lesson I learned were an inmpoertant to teach current yougsters, subliminally.
